Sankalpah Yoga

Testimonials

The yoga intensive at Sankalpah, was without question, one of the most rewarding and empowering experiences of my life. It was a rollercoaster of fun, laughs, emotions and knowledge directed by two of the most brilliant and inspiring teachers, Jude and Isaac. Words will never express how eternally grateful I will always be to them, for their guidance and patience in teaching me the “textbook knowledge” of yoga and especially for the many life lessons they have helped me to learn along the way. The intensive will always bring to my mind a famous quote from the classic text, the Tao Te Ching. “A Journey Of A Thousand Miles Begins With One Single Step” That first timid step I took into the unknown, has deepened my love and respect for yoga and for my Gurus, Jude and Isaac. It has humbled me, made me learn much about my true self, taught me patience and understanding, and forever changed my life. I have learned that this is just the beginning, change is the only constant in life, and that with teaching yoga, comes a great responsibility. Whether you desire to teach or not, If you have even the slightest calling to further your knowledge in yoga, don’t be afraid to take that first step.

From the Heart,
Namaste

I was already a yoga teacher and studio owner when I entered the Sankalpah Yoga Intensive program. I was intrigued by the Sankalpah Yoga approach to sequencing within a vinyasa format and found it effective and inspiring. The format of Sankalpah Yoga classes allows me to incorporate the knowledge and extensive training I have done with Glenn Black, Jill Miller, and Ana Forrest, and my years of experience practicing Vinyasa, Jivamukti, Iyengar and Ashtanga yoga. In Sankalpah Yoga classes, I am impressed by the intelligent sequencing and the strengthening and consistently deep openings possible in ninety minute vinyasa classes that are unlike any other classes I have experienced in NYC. As an advanced student with various asymmetries, I am consistently able to work at my edge and modify poses to honor my body’s needs of the day, and Sankalpah Yoga teachers support the self awareness and unique experience of each student within the momentum of a vinyasa class. It is important to me that students are treated as individuals and not expected to all do the same thing regarding alignment or difficulty, and students of all levels are able to have a complete experience. I love teaching Sankalpah Yoga, as it provides an ever deepening progression including delicious and deep longer pose holds in a vinyasa format within which I am able to create beautifully choreographed sequences and effectively meet the needs of a diverse range of students.
