Carrie Hart

Carrie grew up in Maine with an active and athletic childhood, participating in competitive sports as well as ballet and figure skating. In her late teens she endured multiple lacrosse injuries to her shoulder. After moving to New York 8 years ago, she was delighted to explore many schools of yoga, attending classes and workshops all over the city. It was, however, after her first classes with Isaac Peña and Jude English that Carrie knew she had found her home and the desire to truly live her yoga practice. Through Isaac and Jude’s deep understanding and precise instruction of alignment and sequencing, Carrie’s injury healed, alleviating years of physical restrictions and pain- giving her freedom to explore a deeper asana practice.

Carrie completed the Sankalpah Yoga Intensive last spring and continues to study with its creators, Isaac and Jude, as well as with Glenn Black, Manorama, and Vidya (Mardi Sykes). Her classes combine a challenging vinyasa flow with an emphasis on alignment and sequencing to open specific areas of the body. She encourages her students to cultivate awareness and be present while maintaining a playful and curious spirit. Through her practice and teaching of asana, meditation and pranyama, Carrie feels blessed daily with awareness, joy and peace, all of which she hopes to share with her students.
